Hurricane Relief

Bloggers everywhere are mobilizing to raise money for the hurricane relief efforts in New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Pick your favorite charity, but please give something to help out. Paul (who is in New Orleans) notes in the comments at Wizbang that

“Probably 90% of the money [that gets donated to him via Wizbang’s Paypal link] will be spent on rent for people who have no homes. –That is by far the biggest problem.– Hotel rates hover in the mid $80 range… that’s $2400 a month with no way to cook food. I’ve seen a few people sleeping in their cars.”

Amazon has a Red Cross donation link up again; I can’t remember how many millions they raised earlier this year after the tsunami.

Habitat for Humanity is also on the ball.

If you’re in the Longview area, some folks from St. Michael & All Angels’ Episcopal Church are getting a truckload of goods together and they’re going to take it down on Friday. If you want to contribute something other than money, please drop dry goods and basic necessities by the church sometime today.
