Salesman

My license arrived on Monday. Yesterday I made my first sale. Life just gets busier from here.

Welcome to the world of the independent sales agent. Here, we make a lot of phone calls and spend a lot of time talking to people about the ways we can help them out. We drop our business cards at the slightest provocation, and if you keep your eyes open you’ll see us out on the town putting up fliers and putting down drop cards.

The appointment that I ran yesterday went very smoothly, and to celebrate my first sale, we ate steak at Texas Roadhouse and went out to see March of the Penguins. We had the entire theater to ourselves(!) which added to our enjoyment of the film. Cold and harsh as Antarctica may be, this film made it look beautiful, and the Emperor penguins were fascinating to watch. March of the Penguins documents the penguins’ annual 70-mile trek from the sea to their breeding grounds, highlighting the difficulty and suffering that each mating pair endures in order to successfully hatch their egg and raise a chick. Morgan Freeman’s narration wraps the film together as a story of survival and love in the animal kingdom. Go and see it if you haven’t yet done so.
