It’s taking a long time for me to fully settle into my new job, and unfortunately there’s not much I can do about it. Paperwork hassles have delayed my license - which will hopefully be here within the next week or so - and so I’ve been limited in what I can do until then. I spent last week at the company office in Arlington, learning about the variety of health insurance products and other benefits that are available through the National Association for the Self-Employed, as well as how to sell them. Not having any experience in sales before, I expect that the next few weeks and months will come with a steep learning curve. That said, I’m looking forward to it - I’ve been needing a challenge to sink my teeth into for a while.
After company school last week, Q and I spent a long weekend visiting my aunt and uncle at their holiday villa in Davenport, Florida. We went to the Gulf Coast on Friday, where we observed first hand the effects of red tide; the shore of the beach we visited was completely covered with dead fish, which had apparently washed ashore earlier that afternoon. We did not go swimming.
The flight back to Dallas on Sunday came with a new experience: American Airlines left us standing at the baggage claim. In all the years I’ve been flying, this was the first time I’d ever had a bag go missing. It turned out our bag didn’t make it onto our connecting flight in St. Louis, despite me specifically asking an American agent if it would be transferred. The bag didn’t have anything desperately vital in it, so it was more inconvenience than anything else. A courier delivered it to us in Longview the next day, so there was no lasting damage. We were bothered more by the surly flight attendants on the flight to Orlando.
Aha. Thought I’d better check, having asked you on my blog to post something. Good to read about what you’ve been up to. Hope the paperwork gets sorted quickly- let us know how the selling goes!
