New levels of tact

I ran into one of my history professors this afternoon. He greeted me thus:

“Wow Andrew, it hasn’t taken you very long to gain a bit of weight after getting married!”

Trust Dr. K to tell it like it is, straight up, no sugar.

Apparently, I haven’t been humiliating my boss (who is a good sport) on the racquetball court frequently enough.

  1. I gained 20 pounds my first year of marriage :) Of course, it happened to coincide with going on the pill, moving away from home, and starting college — all weight inducing events.

  2. While standing in the dessert line at a mennonite fellowship meal, I overheard the server comment to my friend ahead of me, you better take more than one piece. You need to get ready for your future husband so you can provide heat in the winter and shade in the summer. Thanks to the only denomination more determined than southern baptists to eat right, to throw an entirely new perspective into my head. I’m not sure it is sitting very well.
