As expected, the Autoshow in Motion was a lot of fun.
As hoped for, I got to drive a Corvette. More than dreamed of, the Corvette was a top of the line Z06. Predictably, I want one. Perhaps not to own, but at least to drive for more than two minutes, at something higher than 2nd gear. Mmm.
Also as hoped for, I drove the Cadillac CTS and the Saab 9-3 convertible. Both were pretty nice, although again, I didn’t exactly have the opportunity to push them very hard. I did notice that the Saab’s windshield is mounted on a hefty A-pillar, which results in a large blindspot, so I doubt that this is a car that I would buy (had I the resources to be in the market for such a vehicle). Who cares, though, when you can ride with the top down on a sunny afternoon, with the wind in your hair? The Saab has “chick-magnet” written all over it.
Also featured at the show (but not available to drive) was Chevy’s upcoming SSR. A very pretty vehicle, I think this is what the Mazda RX-8 would look like if it was a truck. I wonder if there’s any way to add it to my Amazon wish list …
UPDATE: Gascho has a more complete roundup of the cars at the show.
