Notes regarding last night’s John Mayer/Counting Crows concert
- Adam Duritz is a strange-looking guy. Q thinks he was drunk, but it was a little hard to tell from where we were sitting.
- I don’t think I quite understand why Counting Crows is so huge. They were okay, but not all that.
- From 50+ yards away, John Mayer looks really tall (I have no idea how tall he really is).
- I should have paid more attention to support band Carbon Leaf.
- Concerts are generally more enjoyable when you’re not jet lagged.
- Sitting in front of a group of rowdy highschoolers who are equal parts drunk, stoned and stupid tends to detract from the concert experience. I’d rather listen to the performer on stage- even if it is Adam Duritz- than to some half-naked, totally drunk sophomore screaming about how much she loves Adam Duritz, or her equally stoned boyfriend attempting to sing along with John Mayer.
- I think I prefer indoor venues over outdoor.
I was gonna go, it sounded like it might be good. I saw Counting Crows when they came to Tucson a couple years back. The show was good but afterwards the band went out to this local bar and they were just sittin there drinkin’ beers with a bunch of us and chatting about — words make it hard to express but it was cool.
I hate annoying people at concerts too, I think that is why I like being outdoors versus indoors, because I just get away easier from annoying people (or maybe just the aesthetic qualities of good weather and good music makes it easier for me to tune them out).
cheers & welcome back. Just got in from a trip from Seattle myself, had a wedding to attend there. It was fairly secular and the ceremony only lasted 15-20 minutes, whereas the one I went to in Chicago two weeks before — well that was a Catholic wedding which lasted at least n hour. But I guess it is that time of year & that time of life for folks our age to be going to alot of weddings. I know I’m certainly enjoying it all: buying gifts, dressing up, a night of good music & food with friends ‘n family, an open bar…
Weddings are some of the best ways to spend your leisure time, in my humble opinion.
