Giving thanks

Well, I survived meeting the parents- enjoyed it very much, actually. Querida took me home for Thanksgiving, so I met her immediate family and most of her dad’s extended family. I think they like me, which is a plus, and one of Querida’s uncles referred to me as a nephew. Go figure. My (fading, in my opinion) accent only got me in trouble once, when my “Excuse me, sorry?” in response to a mis-heard question from Q’s grandmother elicited a “Do I look like a Sir to you?” Thanksgiving consisted of a houseful of about thirty people, massive trays full of ham, fried turkey (a first for me, very tasty!) and dressing, and football on the television. Good times. Oh, and I’ve been invited back for Christmas, so it all happens again in a few weeks.
